Experience pays off………… Maaskant Travel started as a public transport company more than 80 years ago.
Richard Smits, managing our tour operating section is talking: back then in 1923 we had just 1 coach for local transport to local towns, Through the 1930’s and 40’s the recession and the Second World War slowed down the development of the company. However during the 50’s and 60’s Maaskant started to grow by taking on the challenges that were presented, national and international travel was expanding every year and besides the coach company we founded our own Tour operation: coach travel throughout Europe for groups and schools.
Business was really taking off during the 80’s and 90’s and Maaskant is now a respected player in the Dutch tour operator market, providing 25.000 people with their holiday or excursion, offering a diversity of products ranging from coach-excursions & roundtrips to fly/coach combinations. These trips are sold by 650 independent travel agents in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Solid Here’s where Arthur Smits, director of Maaskant Coaches, comes in. Every coach company in the Netherlands can provide you with a good coach, but there are only a few that can provide you with driver/guides who know every corner of our continent! Due to our experience as a tour operator our driver/guides literally know Europe from Ireland to Romania and from the North Cape to Andalusia!
Safe Talking about safety, a major subject together with quality, these standards are upheld thanks to a regular programme of checks. This programme is carried out jointly with several independent public and private sector organizations. These include the Dutch National Vehicle Inspectorate, Dutch National Road Traffic Service, the STO Foundation which monitors compliance with industry wide labour.
Proof of employee’s professional qualifications (legally required permits, appropriate trade certificates and any additional qualifications). Customer friendliness is paramount for passenger attendants. Demonstrable safety and comfort of all our vehicles.
Regular technical audits by the National Road Traffic Service ensures expert maintenance of coaches. Investment in safety is a priority and a coach is a quality product par excellence.
